PulteGroup celebrated the groundbreaking of Carolina Ridge, its first dual neighborhood, master planned community in the Charlotte market, during a ceremony held this week. The event brought together local officials, company leadership and employees, members of the media, and area realtors to mark the start of this highly anticipated community.
The 670-acre community, based in Cabarrus County and blending rural charm with city accessibility, is expected to celebrate its grand opening in the fall of 2026. The 1,110-home development introduces a “dual-neighborhood” concept, bringing together two distinct communities under leading PulteGroup brands in one connected, master-planned setting. The Retreat at Carolina Ridge by Pulte Homes will feature 613 traditional, single-family homes, and Del Webb Carolina Ridge, will include 497 homes and introduce the nationally recognized 55+ brand to this part of the Charlotte region for the first time.
The Retreat at Carolina Ridge will offer homebuyers 15 dynamic floorplans ranging from 2,200 to more than 4,400 square feet, with homes priced from the mid $500Ks to the low $1Ms. The site will also feature four model homes to tour as well as a sales center. Set amidst rolling hills and farmland, The Retreat focuses on enjoying time spent on recreation and relaxation in a natural setting. It boasts an interactive play area, a resort-style pool with a splash pad for kids, covered outdoor spaces, pickleball courts and a dog park. Residents will enjoy connectivity across the broader community via beautiful, wooded walking trails.
“Carolina Ridge is the kind of community people are looking for today, a place where you can enjoy nature, stay connected, and have what you need close by,” said Scott Herr, Division President of PulteGroup. “With two distinct neighborhoods designed for different stages of life, it creates an opportunity for families to live near one another while still enjoying spaces built for the way they want to live. This approach creates a true multigenerational living experience rooted in nature and connection.”
Del Webb Carolina Ridge is designed for active adults seeking low-maintenance, resort-style living with convenient access to the city for work or to enjoy its cultural amenities. The neighborhood will include six model homes, a sales center and 11 floorplans ranging from 1,200 to more than 3,500 square feet, with pricing from the mid $400Ks to the $800Ks. The community features single-story home options that include lofts and is ideal for those seeking low-maintenance living near their families.
Additionally, Del Webb Carolina Ridge will benefit from its own onsite Lifestyle Director to manage and schedule ongoing events and clubs. The Amenity Clubhouse will include a fitness center, yoga studio, golf simulator and multipurpose rooms. Time outdoors will be made richer with high-end amenities such as a fire pit, zero-entry resort-style pool, pickleball courts, an open-air pavilion, putting green, scenic trails through welcoming green spaces and a dog park.
Located near Harrisburg, Carolina Ridge blends perennial charm, a wide array of modern home touches and the open space needed to relish connected living. It is located within a top-rated Cabarrus County school district and provides convenient access to uptown Charlotte, Ballantyne and major employment centers via Interstate 485, as well as to nearby parks, shopping, dining and healthcare centers.
“Our dream was to create a family-focused community escape that really focuses on developing a connection with nature and being neighborly through communal spaces,” said Kelly Sides, Vice President of Sales for PulteGroup. “Plus, there are so many thoughtful touches to Carolina Ridge like the zip line at the kids’ playground or the putting green that our active adults will love. Even the property’s location, within reach of both the mountains and the beach, makes it an ideal home base for families to vacation and explore together.”
